Prepares and delivers meals to community shut-ins.
Volunteers prepare and deliver a hot meal to one hundred people every Wednesday, including holidays. Our goal is to prepare protein-rich meals consisting of a main course, a vegetable, bread and dessert. Each meal is served in a three-compartment aluminum tray that can be reheated, if necessary. In the summer months, several parishioners share the produce from their gardens, giving us an opportunity to include fresh salads and vegetables in our weekly meal. If you have questions about donations or would like to volunteer to help, please call Joyce Odewahn (706-845-8323).
There are three cook teams, each with four to five volunteers. The delivery team consists of six to seven volunteers. These folks deliver meals and check to see how recipients are getting along. They spend a bit of time with each client in addition to delivering a hot meal.
We are always in need of people who would like to volunteer for the cook teams or the delivery teams. We are also in need of people who would be willing to substitute when needed. If you are interested in this worthy project that takes about two hours each Wednesday, please call the church office.
